A Way of Life
In 1996, Venezuelan and German adventurers Jeannete Talavera and Skipper Wolf Kloss founded a small family enterprise they named “Turismo Sea, Ice & Mountains Ltda”. In Puerto Williams, Chile, the place chosen as home after sailing to different areas around the world, they found a nature-rich area for raising their children and make a living providing services to the few visitors who arrived this far south. With sailing as cornerstone, they offered charming city tours and cozy lodging; a warm sense of hospitality allowed them to provide not just services, but a whole experience.
That very same family enterprise has become home for a larger family comprised of a team of individuals who each add something unique to the mix of what has become the celebration of a “way of life” close to nature, intimate with the environment.
Today we work under the name of SIM Expeditions and, like Jeannete & Wolf did in the beginning, we aim to offer not only outdoor-based activities, but whole experiences such as those an expedition into the wild will provide.
While sailing remains the cornerstone of the program, our vision has evolved on to include all best means of exploration. Soon trekking and kayaking will be added to SIM Expedition's catalog, in order to complement our popular "Sailing Expeditions" and be able to provide a comprehensive access to reach the depths of this remote wilderness.
We are a small company with an independent spirit and a unique attitude towards life; a true mosaic of individuals who share similar values such as care for our local community, a passion for a life outdoors, and a taste for wilderness-based challenges and activities.
